6/3: Time Trials Information

Hey everybody! Time trials is tomorrow!

Time trials is an opportunity for the swimmers to race without the pressure of an actual meet. This will give us coaches a chance to see where each swimmer is at before our first real meet next week. Please make sure to remind your swimmer to swim their best, as we will use these times as a guideline when making lineups for the meet. Here are a few things to expect and plan for for tomorrow...

1. Parents, tomorrow is an all hands on deck scenario. If you are willing, we ask that you volunteer to help time, that way us coaches can make sure swimmers are where they need to be and give us a chance to watch everyone swim. If you’ve never timed before, that’s okay! There are plenty of other parents with experience that would be happy to answer any of your questions and the coaches are happy to answer anything too!
2. Please write your child’s name on their back before they get to practice. This will allow for the timers to easily see who is swimming in their lane and mark their time down accordingly. See the picture below as an example!

3. Bring extra towels for in between events if your child gets cold!!! I know it’s been chilly outside of the water the last few days, so an extra towel or two might be nice since there will be down time in between swimming.
4. All swimmers should be bringing water to practice, but it’s especially important to have water at time trials and all meets going forward. Make sure your swimmer is staying hydrated!

5. Lastly, make sure your swimmer is on time to practice tomorrow! It is important that we get started right away to ensure that everyone has a chance to swim each event.

I’m looking forward to watching each of your swimmers race tomorrow! They’ve all been working so hard these past couple of weeks, so I’m excited to see where they are now and how much they’ll continue to improve as the season goes on. I know this is a lot of info, but as always, let me know if you have any questions and I will see y’all tomorrow morning!!!
